Rustic Elegance

Frank Ernst was the second generation of our 7-generation family in the Paso area. He and his wife, Rosetta, bought our current estate property in 1921. They built the ranch home, the blacksmith shop, and the old barn. All three are still standing! Howie Steinbeck recalls fond memories of working with his grandpa Frank in his shop, forging farm tools, nails for construction, and shoeing their horses as they walked in through the sliding doors. In 2009, Frank’s great-grand-daughter, Cindy Steinbeck, renovated the shop into our modern tasting room, replacing those sliding doors with our customers’ front entrance. She kept the rustic nature of the old shop, but added the elegance of our modern tasting room. A walk through history, every wall space contains a story, article, or antiquity directly from the Steinbeck family’s heritage.
